Sad
Sitting here fussing about unresolved trivalities when the bulldozing goes on.
Grief at the eternal loss of a lovely place I once knew.
They have a good integral team working there, at the consultancy, my ex-colleagues of a brief post-graduation stint. But the doubts always creep in. Do they care enough? Did they do enough? Who pays them? Will anything ever be enough to somewhat make up for destroying a precious habitat, assuage the guilt? How much of this is a rubberstamp?
Is a third of a reef better than the original habitat? Not even a third of the original reef, at that, just fragments chosen by men playing God.
Layers within layers, beneath the official reports.
So ironic, coming on the day of Live Earth.
Frustration at my ineptness at words to voice the feeling...

In an imperfect world, this is probably the best outcome we can hope for.
I do have a feeling that everyone tried their best in their sphere of influence. And we really can't ask for more than that.
The important thing is to learn from this.
And apply those lessons to really important shores: Cyrene for one. It will be really tragic to lose any of it.
